Hi, I’m Balette Smith - Army Veteran, wife, mother, business owner, lifelong learner, and the Battle Buddy behind My Battle Matters.
My Connection to This Work Is Personal
My connection to this work is personal. I served in the United States Army and later built a career across federal service, operations, asset management, human resources, and Veteran-focused claims support. I also experienced how confusing and exhausting the VA process can feel when a Veteran is trying to understand records, decisions, evidence, and next steps without clear direction.
Why I Created My Battle Matters
That experience became part of the foundation for My Battle Matters. I did not create MBM to become another impersonal company in the Veteran space. I created it to provide the type of honest, organized, patient, and compassionate support I believe Veterans deserve. My role is to listen carefully, explain clearly, prepare thoroughly, and tell the truth - even when the truth is not the easiest answer.
Experience & Education
My professional background includes leadership and operations experience in both federal and private-sector environments. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Technical Management and a Master of Business Administration in Human Resources Management. I am also continuing my education in healthcare administration and supply chain management because excellence requires continual growth.

Most importantly, I stand firmly in my faith. I know who I am, what I believe, and whose I am. I believe God gave me the vision for My Battle Matters and the opportunity to use my experience in service to others. My faith does not limit who is welcome here; it strengthens my commitment to serve every Veteran with dignity, honesty, compassion, and respect.
