BUILT ON FAITH • DRIVEN BY SERVICE • COMMITTED TO VETERANS

Why My Battle Matters Exists

Every Veteran has a story, and many of the hardest chapters begin after the uniform comes off.

Every Veteran Has a Story

Every Veteran has a story, and many of the hardest chapters begin after the uniform comes off. Complicated systems, unclear information, medical records, deadlines, and difficult decisions can leave Veterans feeling overwhelmed or unheard.

My Battle Matters exists because no Veteran should feel that their questions, experiences, or future do not matter. The company was built to bring greater clarity, preparation, and personal connection to that journey.

WHAT WE DO

Educate

We believe informed Veterans are better prepared to make confident decisions.

Equip

We help Veterans bring organization and clarity to the information in front of them.

Encourage

We believe no Veteran should have to navigate the next chapter alone.

Our Mission

Our mission is to educate, equip, and encourage Veterans through honest guidance, organized information, and compassionate service so they can approach important benefits-related decisions with greater clarity and confidence.

The Heart Behind MBM

This work is deeply personal to founder Balette Smith. As an Army Veteran, she understands both the pride of service and the frustration that can come with navigating life after service. MBM reflects her belief that Veterans deserve honest answers, respectful treatment, organized information, and a Battle Buddy who will not make false promises.

Faith is the foundation beneath that commitment. Balette believes the vision for My Battle Matters was entrusted to her by God and that serving others is a blessing that must be stewarded responsibly. That conviction is visible in the company's standards: integrity before profit, service before self, excellence in every detail, and compassion in every interaction.

OUR VISION

To build a trusted Veteran-centered organization known for integrity, excellence, education, and a lasting community in which Veterans continue helping Veterans long after their own journey has changed.

Built on Faith. Driven by Service.

Faith is the foundation of my life and the reason service carries such meaning for me. I believe My Battle Matters is a vision God entrusted to me and a blessing I am responsible for stewarding well. That belief shapes how I serve: with honesty, compassion, excellence, humility, and respect.

Every Veteran is welcome here, regardless of background or belief, and every person should expect to be treated with dignity.

Meet Your Battle Buddy

Hi, I’m Balette Smith

Army Veteran, wife, mother, business owner, lifelong learner, and the Battle Buddy behind My Battle Matters.

My connection to this work is personal. I created MBM to provide the type of honest, organized, patient, and compassionate support I believe Veterans deserve.

What Drives Us

Our Values

More Than a Name

My Battle Matters was created from a simple but deeply personal belief: no Veteran should feel unseen, uninformed, or alone while trying to understand what comes next after service. Founded by Army Veteran Balette F. Smith, MBM began with one Veteran helping another and has grown into a structured, mission-driven business centered on education, preparation, integrity, and personal service.

MBM helps Veterans bring order to complicated information, understand potential paths forward, prepare for important conversations and examinations, and make informed decisions without false promises or pressure. The company’s work is supported by a clear process, transparent expectations, and a commitment to treating every Veteran as a person — not a file number.

Keep One • Pass One™

Through Keep One • Pass One and the Pay It Forward initiative, MBM also works to create a lasting chain of Veterans encouraging and supporting other Veterans.
